Left Carolina Beach around 7:45. Weather was sunny, 40 degrees with a NW wind 10 - 15 knots. We had a smooth ride and it was a pretty uneventful day...until we were boarded by the Coast Guard. They claim they were performing a routine "safety" check, but they did more than ask about flares and life preservers! they searched the entire boat, including going through all of our drawers (and not in a good way...lol). What could there have been in the clothes locker that would have been unsafe? There were four of them on board and they kept Chip and I separated and asked us the same questions....where are you from.....where are you headed.....do you have any weapons on board.....what kind of vessel is this (like they couldn't tell it was a power boat?).
Other than that bit of excitement, we arrived in Georgetown safe and sound at approximately 3:30 pm.
