Our friends Rob & Emily invited us out on their catamaran for a sail. Chip and I dinghy'd down to their boat around noon. Emily was babysitting her nephew Corbin and her mom came down to join us as well. ....and of course Max, Cuda and Cobia were aboard! (thier pets....dog & 2 cats) We pulled up the anchor (Rob, Emily and Corbin had anchored out overnight in the creek) and away we went. It was a gorgeous day, good winds and the temperature was in the 70's.....only way this could have been better was if we were sailing in the islands instead! It was a peaceful, relaxing day.......thanks guys for making it so special. Guess my birthday week is finally over.....

A few folks from Bay Point and ourselves decided to put together a dinghy flotilla and take a little tour around the creek. So one Sunday afternoon sometime in August we gathered and made our way up the creek (without paddles....) and ventured into the deep damp crevices of Little Creek. The bait fish were plentiful, there were huge schools of them and they would race around our dinghy's at times. We raced each other and on occasion tried to sneak up on each other or "wake" someone who wasn't expecting it....silly fun.

We did a little bird watching, came across some kids playing on what looked like a giant tricycle, lots of gnats and lots of sunshine!

Our flotilla was comprised of Chip and myself, Willie & Paula, Paul & Jennifer, Carmen & Andy, Rick & Penny, and Razor (as we affectionately call him).

Afterwards some of us headed over to Surf Rider for a cocktail..nice afternoon....

Headed over to Hampton Friday around midday. The bay was a bit choppy, but all in all it was a nice ride. Quiet weekend for the most part, but the four of us had a great time! Linda and I decorated her boat with grass skirting, flamingo lights, dancing flamingos, floating flamingos for the anchor line and flamingo banner flags! I had red chili pepper lights on our boat. We cooked out, walked around on shore, Linda kayak'd around the harbor, we took a dinghy ride around the harbor and watched fireworks........great weekend!

Labor Day Weekend 2009 - Fernandina Beach, FL

AARRRGGGHHH!

Drove down to Fernandina on Friday September 4th to spend the weekend with friends...

We arrived on Friday around 5pm and were instantly led into the house to change into our pirate garb for the children's festival that started at 6:00! We danced, made bubbles with our bubble pirate swords and gave out pirate booty to the kids (beads, gold coins, rings, baubles). After the festival was over we headed to the Palace for a few mugs of grog, arrrggghhh! After a Pirate Punch or two we headed over to Wicked Davies for a bite to eat (which is always recommended after a punch). Then off to Kims for some well needed shut eye.

On Saturday we grabbed breakfast at my fav place, Bright Mornings, then headed over to the Farmer's Market. Lots of delicious goodies to be had there, but we managed to get away with purchasing only a pound of peppered bacon for breakfast on Sunday. After dropping off the bacon at Kims we headed out to do some sight seeing. Later Kim, Kass (her daughter) and I headed to Ross's to do a little shopping. Great sale on summer dresses! We headed to the local butcher, then home to start dinner. We were having meatloaf (actually 3 meat loaf's....Kim's, Kass's and Chip's), along with corn, broccoli and Cindy was coming over with tater's, Zipper Peas, skillet corn, apple cobbler and peach cobbler! Wow what a feast! Needless to say it was an early night after a meal like that!

On Sunday we were invited to a "Recession / Good Bye to Tourist" cookout at Steve and Wanda's. Good food, great people, (S)Karaoke, fireworks, dancing, a band, and a bonfire... great day!

Jimmy Buffett Dock Party Saturday 6/27/09

We have been having dock parties for the 10 years Chip and I have been at the marina, but this time it would be even more special. Paul & Jennifer, on the M/V Parrots Nest, decided to kick it up a notch and try to emulate a Jimmy Buffett concert from the tailgating to the concert itself. In our opinion, they succeeded.

This was a pet friendly event! Tailgating started at 5:30 pm. It was a bring your own grill and your own carnivorous habit to put on the grill, and a dish to share. Some folks even had their trucks backed up on the grass for their tailgating....hey make it as real as you can! People donned grass skirts, Hawaiian leis, parrot hats, shark hats and I think every guy there had a Hawaiian shirt on. At dusk (around 8:30) Paul turned on the DVD player. He had draped two king size white sheets across the back of his boat for a screen and placed a DVD player/projector up on the grassy hill behind the boats, just below the condos. What a great set up. People brought their lawn chairs, blankets, towels... anything to sit on.

The concert was great! It was truly almost like being at the real thing!
