We departed Bay Point at 7:45 a.m.. We could see a storm rapidly approaching, so we tried to stay in front of it, but it caught up to us just as we cleared the jetty's and stayed with us until we got to Fort Wool. We encountered heavy rain, lightning, and 15+ knots winds. The storm calmed down once we rounded the corner and headed down the Elizabeth River. We pulled into Tidewater Yacht to fuel up, and as we were there the sun broke through the clouds and the winds died down a bit. Looked like it was going to be a good day on the water after all. As we got closer to the Northwest River, however, the winds built to a blustery 25 to 30 knots from the SW and stayed that way until our last turn for Coinjock.
We had dinner (famous Coinjock 32 oz Prime Rib) with our friend Ernie, and a few others that drove down to join us. After dinner Chip and I rode with Ernie to his shop to repair the zipper in front curtain, seems the zipper had begun to separate. Returned to the boat around 11:30 and went to bed.
