We met some great folks last evening at an inpromptu dock party held on B Dock. We all brought a dish to share and libations, and we sat around getting to know our neighbors. We made plans to go fishing tomorrow morning with Glen & Jeri bright and early (which down here means 9ish). We were ready to go this morning when everyone showed up at the boat...Glen, Jeri and our neighbor Cindy...and we headed out Sister's Creek.
It was a gorgeous day, mid 70's, winds variable at 10 knots. We cruised out to the Sombrero Light tower and dropped anchor on the West side just outside of the "No Catch" zone. Unlike at home, there is a large area around the light tower marked by four yellow mooring balls that designates an area where you can only snorkel or dive, so we anchored a few yards outside of it. We spent the next several hours catching Yellowtail Snapper, Red Snapper, Cero Mackerel, and Grunt (make sounds like a Croaker). Later in the day we decided to try our luck trolling for either Tuna or Wahoo. Didn't have the same good luck with trolling so we headed back to the dock with our catch.
Glen grilled the fish with Key Lime juice, dill and a little salt, and we all brought a dish to contribute to the dinner....cole slaw, baked beans, fried potatoes, brown rice, fruit salad. It was a good day.
