Old Glory passing yet another speed bump on the ICW
We left Oriental at 7:00, along with Dave & Stacy on Old Glory, and headed North on the Neuse River. It was an uneventful day with pleasant weather and calm waters. I took a few photos of Old Glory for Dave and will email to them the first chance I get. On to Coinjock!
On Wednesday we pulled into Coinjock around 2:30. After securing the boat and getting ourselves freshened up, we met Dave & Stacy at the bar for a few libations before dinner. We entertained the bartender, Lisa, for a while, since we her only customers, until around 6:00 and headed into the dining room for dinner. Our friends Ernie and Chuck met us there as well as my brother Paul and his girlfriend Melody. We feasted on Coinjock's famous 32 oz Prime Rib (generally served for 2), entertained everyone with a few sea stories and downed a few more cocktails before calling it a night. This was our last night on "vacation" and we had to get up early to make all the bridges between Coinjock and Norfolk to get home before dark.
We left the dock at 8:00 just ahead of Old Glory (Dave & Stacy) and headed down the last leg of our journey. Dave & Stacy had a lot further to go, they are headed back to Massachusetts. You could not have asked for a better day on the water. The winds were light, the clouds gave us just enough shade to be comfortable and temps were in the high 60's. We said our good byes and parted company with Old Glory just outside the Little Creek Inlet. As we rounded the jetty's we knew we were home. We were very surprised to find our dock lines still on the hook and the stern lines were as we left them on the dock!
*I guess this is our last blog entry, as our snowbird journey for 2008/2009 has come to an end.
We have enjoyed the places we've been, the sights we've seen and meeting so many great people along the way, and can't wait to do it again!!
